It’s Time To Finally Embrace Your Personal Style

As far as many people are concerned, fashion is something rather nebulous and confusing. They have a few outfits that they like but rarely branch out and trying anything new. This often leads to people feeling as though they can’t really express themselves very well through their style. This is pretty understandable since if it’s not something you’re used to, creating your own style can seem rather complicated and difficult. However, the truth is that it’s actually a lot simpler than you might think. All you need to do is to think carefully about a few specific things. Here is a short list of a few of things that you need to consider when creating your own, personal sense of style.

Know your Colour Palette
Do you ever have those moments where you hear someone say something like “Oh, you shouldn’t wear that! You’re an autumn!” and you have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about? Don’t worry; you’re not alone! When people talk like this what they’re actually referring to is the kind of color palette that you should be using that best complements the natural shades of your skin and hair. Winter tones are those with dark eyes and hair whose complexions complement cool undertones, summer tones suit those with cool undertones but with dark eyes and hair, autumn is for those with dark hair and eyes but warm undertones, and spring it (you guessed it!) for those with warm undertones with light hair and eyes. While this might sound a bit confusing the best thing to do is to try out different things, whether it’s outfits or makeup palettes, and see what works.

Know your Fit
Now, the reality is that everyone can and should wear whatever they want, regardless of size, shape, or anything else. If anyone tries to say that someone is too curvy for crop tops or too tall for heels, then they aren’t worth talking to in the first place. That being said, there are certain fits that work better with certain body shapes and getting to know your body shape can be incredibly useful in helping you find your personal style. If you really want your clothes to fit perfectly then, there’s nothing better than getting them tailored. However, good alterations tailors are rare and hard to come by so if you find one, hold onto them for dear life! Of course, if you don’t have the time or money for something like that then there are plenty of different styles out there designed to fit certain body shapes perfectly.

Know your Influences
There’s no such thing as being 100% original all of the time, and that applies to fashion as much as anything else. If you want to create your own personal style, then there’s absolutely nothing wrong with stealing ideas from other people. You probably have certain people that you luck up to when it comes to their style, why not crib some of their ideas for yourself? After all, no one’s going to sue you for taking influence from their style. Rather than stressing about wanting to look totally unique, mix and match things from different influences. Eventually, you’ll find that you’re able to mix enough different influences to create something that is totally unique to you!

Know the Trends
When you’re trying to create your own style, you don’t need to follow what everyone else is wearing, but seeing the latest fashion trends can often give you a lot of fantastic ideas of how to wear certain items. After all, the people at the top of the fashion world know more about what looks good than just about anyone else, so it’s worth seeing what they’re up to if you really want to be as stylish as possible. Checking fashion blogs for updates and ideas can be a great way to inspire yourself. Of course, you don’t want to end up obsessively following trends so much that your style is no longer unique to you.

It’s all about Confidence!
No matter what you wear, there’s one secret to making it look good that is more effective than anything else: confidence! If you can’t rock your style with pride, then you’re never going to be able to make it look good. There are some people out there who are so confident that they could go out in a trash bag and make it look stylish. Make those people your inspiration! Whatever your personal style is, be confident in it, and you’re sure to look fantastic every single day.
