this was forever ☾

For those of us in most parts of Canada, we cannot wait for the Victoria Day long weekend. This long weekend is dear to our hearts because it unofficially signifies the beginning of summer, the beginning of cottage weekends and the beginning of warmer weather. For myself, I will be taking a road trip to Ottawa and Montreal for the long weekend. I am going to show you how to travel light and still feel like you have all your essential makeup and skincare needs on hand.

First off, let me start by saying that I don’t like bringing makeup brushes with me when I’m travelling. So I try my best to carry only products that can be used with sponges or with my fingers. Thus, it should explain some of my choices of items that I have included in this list.

Makeup Essentials
Sephora Collection Breakups To Make Up Bag – This makeup bag/clutch is vegan and cruelty-free and holds all my beauty essentials with room to spare. I have a lot of these mini-travel makeup bags but I can honestly say that this one is my favourite because the size allows it to hold even bigger palettes.
CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream for Oily Skin – I love this lightweight and natural matte finish of this bb cream because it doesn’t compromise the coverage. It’s perfect for those hotter summer days.
L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder – I always bring a powder with me just on days when I don’t even feel like wearing a bb cream. I love this product and have already reviewed it on my Instagram.
CoverGirl Goldens TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette – Compact and has all essential shades, this is my favourite go-to travel palette. Richly pigmented shadows in goldens, and in a range of colors and textures. I don’t mind the applicator that actually comes with the palette so I can use that rather than brushes.
Benefit Cosmetics Feelin’ Cheeky! Minis – When travelling, it’s always good to have products that can have more than one function. We all know these Benetints can double up as cheek and lip stains. Though these minis are no longer available, I’ve actually kept the bottles and pour of regular size Benefit products in them when I travel.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner & Urban Decay Potion Primer – Who doesn’t love these two products? I use them religiously every single day.
Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara – This is a travel size version of the mascara. I’m going to do a full review of this mascara soon because I FREAKIN’ LOVE IT!
Revlon Eyelash Adhesive & Dolly Wink Eyelash Case – My false lashes essentials: the adhesive that can last the whole day and a case to store all my falsies.
Equate Blotting Paper – Much more affordable than the Clean n’ Clear ones since it’s the Walmart brand. However, these work just as well.
Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm – Review of this cult favourite lip balm here.
NYX Lip Lingerie (Beauty Mark) and Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick (Bow N Arrow) – My two favourite brown lipsticks at the moment. These two are pretty much on rotation for the past month.

Skincare Essentials
Coopertone ClearlySheer Lotion for Body – I cannot go on a getaway without my sun protection. This Lightweight sunscreen formula feels clean and light, barely leaving a trace on my skin. I hate sunscreens that are too heavy and I dare to say that this one almost dries to a matte finish. It is also water-resistant for 80 minutes so feel free to take a dip in the pool.
Coopertone ClearlySheer Lotion for Face – My NEW favourite sunscreen for the face! This is indeed very light to the touch and on top, it doesn’t have a heavy sunscreen scent. It won’t clog pores and it can be worn under makeup. Just like the lotion for body, this is also waterproof as well.
The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder Pink Peony Overnight Water Pack – A water-gel mask enriched with fruit and flower extracts that delivers a mega-shot of healthy hydration while you sleep. I love how fast-absorbing this mask leaves my skin feeling radiant, smooth, and comfortable the moment I wake up.

Nip + Fab Soften Kale Fix Makeup Removing Pads – Finally, makeup removing pads that can actually remove false lashes without any pulling or tugging. Though it’s not favourite makeup remover for eye makeup, but because of its convenient packaging, it’s the perfect product for travels.
Olay Complete All day UV Moisturizer – Rain or shine, wearing sunscreen daily is important to protect skin all year long. This is a great moisturizer that double up as a sunscreen as well. I love wearing this on days when I don’t feel like wearing any other SPF products because it absorbs quickly and lasts all day long.
Olay 4-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths – Designed to remove dirt, oil, and makeup while gently conditioning skin, these cloths cleanse and hydrate the skin in one easy step for an instantaneously clean, fresh feeling that lasts throughout the whole day.
Gillette Venus Snap Women’s Razor – I love everything about this mini razor because it has everything I need for a smooth shave and yet it doesn’t take up too much room in my bag. What’s even better? At the end of the trip, I can simply toss it out.
