Ombre nails is an easy and fun nail art for summer. I love doing something bright and vibrant to match the hot summer season. To protect and prolong your nail colour, apply your preferred base coat first. Recently, I’ve been loving these Nail HQ Nail Treatments as my base coats. More specially, I love the Nail HQ Ridge Filler for Thin Ridged Nails because it gives my nails unique hydrating, moisturizing and conditioning attributes which will help nails become more flexible, help regulate nail growth and improve the wear of nail enamel by providing adhesion properties.
Then apply your desired base colour. For this look, I used the OPI Little Bit of Neon Kit from ObsessedLook.com because the colours are so vibrant. This 6 pc mini set contains: Life Gave Me Lemons, You Are So Outta Lime!, Juice Bar Hopping, Hotter Than You Pink, Push & Pur-Pull, Down To The Core-Al. You can purchase your set here.
Wait until the base colour is completely, if not, almost dry before you start sponging. I used a foundation sponge because they have less holes in them than household sponges. I applied the base colour and another colour that I want to work with onto the sponge. Dab the foundation sponge on the nail in an up-down motion. The intensity of the colours can be changed by repeating the dabbing process when the first layer is dried.
Then you can clean up the sides and around the cuticles with q-tip dipped in acetone.
Lastly, apply a top coat (I used a glitter top coat) and you’re finished! These ombre nails are fun and the skills can be used for any colours. The possibility is pretty much limitless!
