We all know how much I love nude colours for the eyes and for the lips. So when Annabelle Cosmetics sent me their latest Smokey Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, I was so excited. I saw the colours and instantly thought that this would become my go-to palettes because my staple colours have always been any shades of taupes, browns, golds and a black shadow. This palette has them all.

Top row: matte pale pink, satin light brown, satin taupe, matte gray, matte black
Bottom row: satin ivory, satin gold, satin brown, dark brown with shimmers, matte dark brown

The bottom colours are definitely more pigmented than the top row. The top row shades apply very sheer and the colours are subtle. To me, this is a little disappointing considering that it’s supposed to be a smokey eye palette. Take a look at the swatch below (just one swipe) of the top row:

Like I said, the colours are not pigmented and are chalky in texture. The black is probably the best colour from the top row because it works well on my lids and can build up to a better intensity. The bottom row is better and the colours are more vivid. The satin brown, dark brown with shimmers and matte dark brown are my favourite shades out of the palette because they are the most buttery.

These shadows are build-able, so you can achieve the desire pigmentation with a few swipes. The colours do blend very well, so it can be easily feathered and smudged. This palette is better than some single drugstore shadows that are currently on the market but it’s not the best.

Overall, for $12.95 CAD I don’t think the palette is anything spectacular. Yes, it’s a good deal considering you do get 10 shadows however, I wouldn’t recommend picking up this palette if you have similar colours already in your makeup collection.
