WHY YOU SHOULD SKIP THIS PRODUCT
I must throw a bit of a disclaimer before I continue with this review. In general, I’m not a fan of mascara. I actually, rarely touches mascara. Why? That’s because I have short, stubby Asian lashes. No jokes, I really do. That’s why most time I just skip mascara and go straight to false lashes instead. To be honest, I have never found a mascara that I’m 70% happy with. The closest one I believe is Urban Decay’s Supercurl Mascara. So with that being said, here are my thoughts on the new L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara.
So what I really like about this mascara is actually the brush. The brush is of an asymmetrical lash line shape, that is to extend and lift outer corner lashes to give a winged-out effect. The brush is really good at winging out my lashes but at the same time it also cause some trouble during the application process. The asymmetric shape is easy to do for my right eye because I’m right handed, however, when I’m doing my left eye, it creates some problem. This is because you would have to flip your wrist around to make sure that the winged out side of the brush is on the outer side of the eye. And that’s something that I am not use to because I usually just go over my nose instead of flipping my wrist. The formula, I think, does give a really good length to my lashes. I would even say that it does hold my curl to a certain extent. However, there’s definitely a lack of volume.
The thing that I don’t like the most about this mascara is that I find myself having panda eyes during lunch time. So this means that the mascara starts to smudge for me after 4 hours of wear. Maybe I have really oily eyes, but it really does not last long on my lashes. There isn’t really much special about this mascara that I personally think it’s worth trying.
