[REVIEW] - DOLLY WINK FALSE LASHES NO. 2 SWEET GIRLY

Mood [Cranky]
Currently Playing [Jason Mraz - I Won't Give Up]

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Dolly Wink series are for all the girls who always want to look young and pretty no matter how old we are. Large attractive eyes with gorgeous lashes makes us happy! This series is produced by Tsubasa Masuwaka, the charismatic fashion model amoung all ages in Japan!

Natural separate type false lashes. It is longer and thicker at the center. It creates more impressive, sweet-looking eyes. Do not cut the false lashes. Attach the thick part of the lashes right above the iris of your eye.

FOR BEST RESULT
1. Gently curl the lashes with an Eyelash Curler.
2. Gently peel off the False Eyelashes from the plastic platform. Right lash is in the case marked "R" and left marked "L".
3. Soften the band of False Eyelashes for 10 seconds to give it a curve.
4. Using the tip of the cap, create a small hole on the adhesive tube. Apply a few drops of Eyelash Adhesive to the bottom edge of the False Eyelash.
5. Wait 5-6 seconds for the Adhesive to begin to dry.
6. Apply the False Eyelashes along upper lash line working from the outside corner of the eye inwards. Wait for the adhesive to dry completely before applying makeup.

WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO in love with this pair of lashes! (More than the first pair of Dolly Wink lashes that I had reviewed here) What I find to be really unique about this brand of lashes is that the strands are made out of fine Nylon, so they look very real. With some false lashes that are made out of plastic, I find that it can look a bit fake. These lashes are also very light weight so they will not weigh your eyes down. It almost feels like I'm not wearing any false lashes at all ~

You know what else is really good about these lashes? They are not reflective on camera! The lash band is not too obvious and simply eyeliner can cover it up. I love it when the band are invisible because it makes the lashes look so much more natural. Plus, it's not too difficult to bend the band as well so that it'll fit the shape of my eyes. The thick part near the middle emphasizes the middle of the eye and makes it look wider which I really love.

Of course the downsides of these lashes are the price tag and also the availability of them. These lashes can range from $13-$20 USD depending on where you purchase them. It can add up to quite a bit considering there's only two pair of lashes. However, with one set of pair, You can use up to 3 months with good care. Once removed from your eyelids, gently remove the leftover glues from the fake lashes using your nails, then keep it in the box. Believe me this is a very easy process and it ensures that you can get the most wear out of these lashes.

WRAPPED IN MERINO - THE WORLD'S LONGEST SOCIAL SCARF

Mood [Alone]
Currently Playing [None]

The Woolmark Company is giving wool lovers the chance to make history by setting a new world record for the World’s Longest Social Scarf.

Launching on Tuesday 29th of May (tomorrow), The Woolmark Company’s ‘Wrapped in Merino’ campaign which runs on a microsite and on the We Love Wool community, aims to connect people in social media as they collaboratively design a giant virtual scarf. Each participant creates their own section of the scarf, adding their photo and customising the scarf design, before sharing it with their friends through Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

It's a really neat idea and you can create your own scarf attached to a photo of yourself. You can choose your type of scarf, pattern and even color.

This is the scarf that I created! Of course, I had to make it match my outfit! Haha ~ It's really fun to play around with the different types of scarf.

Look at that! Now I'm a part of the movement to create the world's longest social scarf along with people from other counties! :) You know what else is really neat? Participants automatically enter the draw to win one of eight fashion prize packs, including Net-A-Porter vouchers and soft Merino wool scarves. Merino wool is mostly produced in Australia and is known to be the finest and softest wool. It’s a 100% natural and renewable resource making it super soft on your skin, and extra gentle on the planet.

[MEDIA COVERAGE] - SCOTIABANK CONTACT PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL: TWO AND A QUARTER

Mood [Exhausted]
Currently Playing [None]

Lomography Gallery Store Toronto is pleased to present Two and a Quarter this May, as part of the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. This group exhibition was organized in response to a current trend in snapshot photography, which finds many producing ‘square images,’ as opposed to the standard and familiar rectangle image. This square aesthetic, something seemingly of the past, infuses each photo with a sense of nostalgia, making us think that our images ‘look better’ or are more unique and authentic.

This nostalgic trend to “shoot square” was inspired by the plastic point-and-shoot cameras of our past, such as the classic Diana, and is shot with film for which two and a quarter is the aspect ratio of the exposure area. Using these guiding principles, the artists in this exhibit, exploring the theme of “nostalgia as trend and inspiration,” and created their own unique and imaginative images with the Lomography Diana F+ camera. The original Diana, first born in the 1960’s and then reborn again in 2007 by Lomography, is a plastic, simple medium format camera that has inspired a global community of fans through its original charms and nostalgic qualities. It is these qualities that are intrinsically associated with analogue photography—aged, exposure flaws, soft focus, and light leaks. This group exhibition highlights the creativity possible within the square image and to embrace the nostalgic quality of analogue processes that continue to resonate in the modern world.

Two and a Quarter features 17 photographers exhibiting new works by:

Steven Beckly
Rebecca Cairns
Jamie Campbell
Kevin Chaves
Michael Raymond Clarke
Nathan Cyprys

Kimon Kaketsis

[REVIEW] - MAYBELLINE LINE STILETTO LIQUID EYELINER

Mood [Aggravated]
Currently Playing [DBSK - 明日は来るから]

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A liquid liner that allows you the ultimate control to create any line you want!
• Elongates your lash line to shape and define eyes like never before
• Our flexible felt tip glides on smoothly for the most precise control
• No tugging, no dragging
• All-day wear up to 8 hours
• Safe for sensitive eyes and ophthalmologist-tested
• Contact lens safe

FOR BEST RESULT
Start at the inner corner of lid and line along the lash line following the contour of your eye. For added drama, apply slightly heavier at outer corners. Removes easily with Expert Eyes® Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover.

INGREDIENTS
Aqua/Water, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates Copolymer, Polyester-5, Alcohol Denat. Trilaureth-4 Phosphate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Silica. [+/- May Contain: Ci 77499, Ci 77491, Ci 77492/Iron Oxides, Ci 77266/Black 2, Mica, Ci 77499, Ci 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Ci 75470/Carmine, Ci 75470 Chromium Oxide Greens, Ci 77289/Chromium Hydroxide Green, Ci 77742/Manganese Violet, Ci 77007/Ultramarines, Ci 77510/Ferric Ferrocyanide].

WHY I LIKE THIS PRODUCT
This is my favourite drugstore (drugstore being North American drugstore) liquid eyeliner at the moment! Now, it's not my all time favourite liquid liner but it's pretty decent. What I liked most about this liner is the pigmentation. The liner gives a really dark and rich black and it stays on for 4-5 hours without any touch up. The pigmentation will slowly become water down the more you use it. But that happens to all liquid liners so it's normal. It's not smudge proof however, so make sure you don't rub your eyes.

Now the felt tip applicator is unique and it's something that most drugstore liquid liners do not have. However, even though it's unique, I find that it's still more difficult to control in comparison to the K-Palette liner or the Dolly Wink liner. It's not as easy when you want to create a winged line. I find that the Japanese liners are also more precise. The other downside about this liner is that it takes a really long time to dry. Maybe because the color payoff is really good, so that's why it takes a longer time for it to dry.

However, with the price tag at a mere $6-$7 at Walmart, it's a decent liner and definitely worth a try. This is a great alternative if you don't want to pay more for the Japanese liquid liners or if you can't wait for the shipping. (This item is available in most if not all, local drugstore stores and Walmart). I will repurchase this again when I'm finished this one and when my Japanese liquid liner runs out. It's, without a doubt, a great liner for beginners.

Forever 21 top (similar here & here), from Hong Kong black tutu (Dress version here), Toms shoes (similar here & here), Prada purse (similar here)

This past weekend was the Victoria Day long weekend here in Toronto. It's finally beginning to feel like summer. The birds are singing, the sun is setting later and the ice-cream trucks are everywhere. Plus, with a high of 28 this past Sunday, I can say with confident that Summer is upon us. Unfortunately, I won't be going anywhere or doing anything special this summer. I'll mainly be job hunting in hopes of securing a teaching job in September! Other than that I'll just be helping out in a children's day camp and working in an office. //boring// I hope your summer is more adventurous than mine! Let me know what you are doing...

[REVIEW] - K-PALETTE 1 DAY TATTOO VERSUS DOLLY WINK LIQUID EYELINER

Mood [Bored]
Currently Playing [None]

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h WP (Limited Edition) helps draw incredibly delicate eyelines and effectively ensures long hold, as if the lines were tattooed on the eyes. It is strongly waterproof, sweat-proof and sebum-proof. However, it can be easily and thoroughly removed with warm water. This pink version of the eyeliner is an limited edition one, which comes with bonus skincare performance, including grape seed extract and hyaluronic acid for skin nourishment.

FOR BEST RESULT
Draw along the eyelid to brighten up your eye.

INGREDIENTS
【Vitis Vinifera】conditions skin.
【Hyaluronic Acid】strongly hydrates.

K-PALETTE VERSUS DOLLY WINK
Both of these eyeliners are both of the most famous Japanese eyeliners that mostly people know. Since I use a liquid eyeliner on a daily basis, I'm constantly on a search for new ones! Dolly Wink have been my favourite liquid eyeliner for the past 2-3 years (read my first review of the Dolly Wink liner here) and it was only around a year ago that I started to use the K-Palette one. Since I own both of these, I decided to write a Versus post about these two liners. Continue on reading to find out which one I prefer...

Box Packaging
Even with the limited edition box, I think the K-Palette box packaging is not as cute or attractive as the Dolly Wink one. Must give Tsubasa (益若つばさ) some credits for making her makeup brand's packaging so adorable! +1 point for Dolly Wink!

Product Packaging
Once again, K-Palette cannot beat Dolly Wink! With the baby pink and polka dots packaging, I really can't resist giving another point to Dolly Wink! It’s really cute and sweet and truly different than other regular eyeliners! +1 point for Dolly Wink

Precise Tip

It’s almost same! As you can tell from the photo, the Dolly Wink liner is just a bit sharper than the K-Palette one. This makes it a lot easier to draw a wing line with it than with the K-Palette one. However, the race is still pretty close. The K-Palette felt tip is still a lot better than most of the other brands in the makeup world. +1 Dolly Wink

Pigmentation

This is a draw for me. Both of these liners are extremely pigmented and with one swipe, the color is extremely dark and rich. Draw!

Price
K-Palette’s eyeliner original price is 1200Yen, whereas Dolly Wink’s eyeliner original price is 1280yen. However, I know that the price can vary when you are trying to get the product outside of Japan. For example, K-Palette costs US $14.10 on SASA.com and Dolly Wink is US $13.50. I know prices vary when you search for it on various websites. So I would consider this a draw!

Long Lasting
This is the deciding factor for me! The point will have to go Dolly Wink. I find that even though they are both very pigmented, the Dolly Wink liner last a LOT longer on my eyelids than the K-Palette one. The K-Palette liner definitely does not last for 1 day, which is very disappointing. I find that on average the Dolly Wink liner can last for over 5 hours without touch up, while I will have to touch up my eye within 2 hours when I use the K-Palette liner. +1 point Dolly Wink

Conclusion
Dolly Wink wins by taking 4/6 points. However, bare in mind though, the eyeliners are really, really similar. Dolly Wink works better for me, but that doesn’t mean K-Palette is a bad eyeliner. I would still recommend the K-Palette liner if you didn't like the Dolly Wink one. The Dolly Wink one is cute, precise and provides an intense and long-lasting result, thus, it's a winner in my book! I have yet to find a liquid liner that can beat it. Do you know any products that can challenge the Dolly Wink liner? Please let me know!

[REVIEW] - BIODERMA SENSIBIO H2O 500ML

Mood [Bored]
Currently Playing [容祖兒 - 連續劇]

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
• At the cutting edge of innovation, BIODERMA has pioneered micellar solutions. Specially formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skins, the Sensibio H2O micelle solution gently cleanses face and eyes. It removes water-resistant make-up. The micelles contained in its formula effectively micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance (soap-free, physiological pH).
•Soothing and decongesting active ingredients prevent the feelings of irritation often caused by cleansing.
•Sensibio H2O guarantees excellent cutaneous and ocular tolerance (tested under ophthalmological supervision).

FOR BEST RESULT
•Sensibio H2O is an ultra-mild cleansing formula, use it with the utmost care.
Soak a cotton pad with Sensibio H2O and cleanse the face and eyes and/or remove any make-up. Repeat the application until the cotton pad remains clean.
•Sensibio H2O needs no rinsing, but it is essential to dry your skin. Dry gently. Dab your face with a clean cotton towel.
•Sensibio H2O can be used daily, morning and evening.

INGREDIENTS
WATER (AQUA), PEG-6 CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC GLYCERIDES, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) FRUIT EXTRACT, MANNITOL, XYLITOL, RHAMNOSE, FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES, DISODIUM EDTA, CETRIMONIUM BROMIDE.

WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT
I love, love, love, love, love this! (Can I emphasize it anymore?) I can't believe it has taken me so long to write this review! Pleasantly surprised of the water-like texture and more so how it manages to take off all traces of make-up. I have completely replaced all my cleansing oil to this product. The reason being? Well, it's much easier to remove all my facial makeup with this product. Simply put some of it on a cotton pad and wipe away! It usually takes about 3 cotton pads for me to completely remove everything. Sunscreen, foundation, concealer, powder, blush, bronzer are GONE! It leaves me skin feeling really fresh without rinsing, which is something I really miss since I have been using cleansing oils for so long now. I love the squeaky clean feeling afterwards. I use the double cleanse method - makeup remover with this Sensibio H2O, followed by a facial cleanser. My face feels clean after makeup removal and no breakouts.

The two downsides that I have noticed with this product: 1) It doesn't remove eye-makeup very well. After pressing a soaked cotton ball over mascara for half a minute, there is still eyeliner and mascara. In fact, I find that if too much product gets inside your eyes, it can actually sting. So I would still suggest using your favourite eye makeup remover instead of this for your eye makeup. 2) The price! You can find this at your local Shoppers Drug Mart for $30 per 500ml. Even though 500ml bottle can last for 1.5 months, it's still a bit pricey.

FASHION TRENDS: HARNESS BELTS

Remember this "belt" that I had purchased from H&M over 2 years ago? (It's actually not even a belt but it's actually more of a corset since it's from the lingerie section) Anyways, this harness belt trend is coming back and in full swing as well! I really like this trend because not only does it play with texture but you can easily contrast between something very feminine versus something that's completely edgy! These belts look amazing with dresses! Check out my picks from ASOS:

Forever 21 cropped top & tribal bird necklace (here), H&M pants & bowler hat (similar on sale for $2 here), Baleno sandals (similar here & here), American Eagle x Deux Lux bag (other Deux Lux bags here & here)

One of my favourite recent purchases is this Deux Lux x AE purse! I had fell in love with it a little while back but didn't want to pay the full price for it ($69.99). It was very similar to their Fortune Cookie bag, which I thought had such a unique design to it. Then last Friday, I bumped into it again when I walked into American Eagle in the clearance section and you would not believe the price. It was on sale for $13! Of course, purchased it without a second thought. The bag is very, very spacious but I do have a difficult time looking for the smaller items inside it. But for that price, who am I to complain?
